Intranet

An intranet is a private network typically used by one organisation to communicate and share information. Intranets use the same protocols as the internet and can be thought of as smaller discrete parts of the internet with limited or no access from outside the organisation.

Many companies have an internal website that can be accessed only from the intranet that stores private information such as an email directory or a project planning system.
