Open source

Open source refers to computer software for which the code is publicly available so that any user with the know-how can contribute and make their own changes to how it works. There are many examples of popular software currently in use that is created by an open source community, such as Firefox, but often the disadvantage for corporate use is the lack of technical support and warranty.
